According to the 2010, UBOS projections, there are 466,200 people in Iganga district.

chairmanDear Readers, and all stakeholders, welcome to the district web portal. As one of the Local Governments in the country, we are mandated to offer services to our people. To this end, it is imperative that we promote an environment of transparency and accountability by bringing to the open all that we do on behalf of the people. I do believe that one strategy, which these cardinal leadership virtues can be achieved, is, through communication.

New CAO Gakwandi advocates for team-work
caoIganga has received a new Chief Administrative Officer, CAO. George Eustuce Gakwandi replaced flamboyant Charles Kiberu in a country-wide transfer of CAOs by the Ministry of Local Government. Kiberu was taken to Sembabule district.

Gakwandi, brings to Iganga a wealth of 32 year-experience in public administration. He rose through the ranks from Assistant District Commissioner ADC to his current rank of Director. (All CAOs are at the level of Director).
He has been head of Civil service in a number of districts like Rakai, Tororo, Busia, Jinja, Pallisa and Mukono.
“All these districts have different cultures and politics, so I must have made a certain contribution to them during my stay there”, he says.
